To my tree.

The tree outside my study

intrigues with its florets of grey green leaves,

all the bird life singing along

shifting branches in their search for food,

watching cats as they pad around and climb the tree,

even a caracal came by to pay a visit,

Ibis’s, fish eagles and gos hawks ,

all visit, then spiral up

into the lazy, sharp air

circling towards the  mountains

with the rock strata standing out,

with all the twists showing,

as it looks down on us

with its elephants eye,

as it awaits the the birds,

standing steadfast,

and like every living thing

hoping for the relieving rains.
