The bow slips across the strings,

running through my soul,

as the music quietly begins

to pour from the violin,

joined in a great stir of emotion

by the cello, viola and second violin.

The music sways, as the bows move;

now in unison, then in different measures,

playing with the harmonics of my inner melody,

my head full of  currents,

as I begin to pick up the melody

humming happily along,

with a gentle smile emanating from my being.

    • Thanks, it must be quite challenging but interesting, as one is singing in a very open setting, and having to interact continuously with the four players, without the support of a conductor or the single interaction of singing with a pianist. I was listening to Schubert’s great quartet in D minor, D 810, Death and the maiden, when I wrote the poem. Best wishes and blessings, Charles.
