Life songs

The peaks hang heavy

above the green shrubs

populated by nature,

birds sing, snake slither

eyes mesmerising

round the house

of my grandfather

where my mother and father lived;

Clovelly, the wild corner

where I slipped into life

early one February morning,

a near birthday gift for my mother,

after a long and trying labour,

in a nursing home on the beach,

celebrated by dolphins and whales

calling the song of my life.
