The Swallow

Still … close,

a flash in the corner of my mind,

racing circles in the blue sky,

scimming over fynbos,

playing in the colours of my mind,

as a child hides,

rushes forward

carrying a small case,

he moves on anxiously

over the cratered  land,

face bewildered,

full of fear,

he seas other children,

joins them,

as they struggle into a small boat

heading off for a better life,

as the waves rock the boat,

which sinks in the unease of my mind,

as the swallow flits by; again.

    • Thanks Juli, the poem has swum arround my mind for a while. probably because I have not been on the computer much, or written much in the past few months; so I enjoyed writing this poem, and getting back to writing. Glad you liked it, have been enjoying your poetry too. Love the picture at the top of the page, where is it? Best wishes and blessings, Charles.

      • Thanks, Charles. Good to see you back writing. It was worth the wait.

The photo is taken from a felucca on the Nile, just outside Aswan. Blissful days…

        Peace and Light
